Sexy Sunday: Emma Chamberlain (the brand)
Sexy Sunday note: My goal with the Sunday posts is to put the “sexy thing” I’m talking about into context. I believe it would be boring to just copy paste Wikipedia facts. If the “sexy thing” itself is interesting to you, the best would be to surf over to the google search page by yourself.
The sexy thing you deserve this Sunday is to get to know Emma Chamberlain, the brand.
First of all, how can Emma be a brand?
It’s starting now and it’s the future. I believe that in the near future the biggest internet companies will be authentic individuals or group of authentic individuals. Why? Because, technology allows us to more accurately portray and spread authenticity.
Example: if back in the days you were a fan of Michael Jackson, you were mostly a fan of his music. What was it that allowed Michael’s music to spread? Technology. “Got to be there”, his first album, was released in 1972. All technologies that were invented to record or distribute music throughout the 70’s can be found here.
Good music is the expression of the authentic self, like all forms of art. At the time of Michael Jackson, an expression of self through music was enabled by the right timing of technological advancements. In recent years, the same thing has been happening with other areas of authentic self-expression enabled by technological advancements with the internet leading the way.
Second, what does Emma do?
She’s leveraging authenticity.
She’s really likable, pretty and funny which are things that people appreciate. That gives her a good starting foundation. On top of that she’s is really honest about her life, who she is and struggles she’s has got.
Initially she used video creation and the rise of YouTube to spread her authentic self and over time has integrated the self into different ventures, products and services. Now she’s able to be herself through a coffee company, her own podcast, her casual vlogs and travel videos, varying roles within the fashion industry as host, interviewer, and presenter and her role as a major ambassador for fashion brands such as Cartier, Vogue or Louis Vuitton
Third, what will Emma be doing in the future?
An artist like Emma has benefited from the advancements of video, image and other creation tools. Future technological trends will define what successful ventures she’s doing next. The technology that allows her to spread her authentic self will define what’s next.
If future advancements in technology do not help her to express more of who she is, other people or groups of people will come along and create new major brands. A human and especially groups of humans have so many facets and the possibilities of creation over time seem to be without limits.
