Of a Lifetime Documentary
The thing with beauty is that you can’t describe it without loosing or transforming some of it in the process. If you want to keep the original beauty, don’t describe it, only expose it, and let people see it. Dig it up and let people come across it and admire it.
Only the most skilful people manage to describe beauty, and in the process transform it into a new and different beautiful thing. Sometimes, it turns out to be even more beautiful than the original. However, if you describe it in the wrong way, most of it gets lost and you end up with something banal that doesn’t leave you with the feeling that we all know, the feeling of having experienced something beautiful.
The documentary I’m sharing with you here is the transformation of a beautiful experience of three extreme sports athletes who are also daughter, father, and uncle. The result is one of the most beautiful documentaries I’ve ever seen. Honestly, I can’t remember a time when another documentary made me feel like that.
Of course this is also due to who I am and the fact that I love nature, sports, people and adventure. But there is more to this documentary. It’s the bubbling relationship between a father and a daughter, it’s the unbreakable bond and the trust between two brothers, it’s the story of a girl growing up as a tiny part of a wide wild world, it’s the contrast between fear and complete amazement, it’s human innovation confronting the raw powers of nature, it’s a glimpse at what perfecting a skill looks like, it’s music embracing some of the most breath-taking sceneries on the planet, it’s tears and joy, it’s penguins, it’s a trip of a lifetime.
It’s all these things and many more. Enjoy OF A LIFETIME by The North Face.
